Greetings from the Mahoney office!  We hope your summer is going well. We  are looking forward to the beginning of another school year.  A newsletter was sent out to all households in July, but here are some important dates in case it has been misplaced.

August 29th   6th grade Open House 3:30 p.m.

August 31st  First student day for all grades

September 2nd   No School for students

September 5th   No School, Labor Day

September 9  First Mahoney dance for Mahoney students only 6-8 p.m.  $6

September 22nd  7th/8th grade Open House 6:00-7:00 p.m.

September 26  PICTURE DAY  (NOTE: This is a change of date)

v      Thursday, June 16th:  8th grade step up day to high school

                     7th grade class trip to Crescent Beach 9-1:30 p.m.

                     8th grade final assembly 6:30 p.m. in auditorium

v      Friday, June 17th:  Final Assembly for 6th and 7th grade 8:30 a.m.  Family members are invited to attend as we recognize 6th and 7th graders on their various achievements.  The assembly will last approximately one hour.

v      Friday, June 17th:  Last day of school:  6th and 7th graders are dismissed at 11:15 a.m.  No lunch will be served.

 

There are still yearbooks available for those who still want one.  See Mr. Patashnik in room 122 with 25 dollars in cash or check made out to Mahoney Middle School.

 

All library books are due back!  Please get any materials you have to the library.  But, we don’t want you to stop reading!  There is a book swap in the library.  You may come and take a book.  If you have any books at home that you would like to contribute that would be great.

 

We have lost and found items in our hallway near the main office, in the athletics office downstairs, and in the main office.  The items in the main office consist of jewelry, keys, phones and other like items which can be claimed by identification.  Stop by before the last day of school as items are donated to charity after that.

 

Students who have lost or missing items need to make sure they are found and returned or paid for before the end of the school year.  Report cards will be withheld if this does not occur.

Sports announcements:

On Friday the Raiders baseball team finished their season undefeated by beating King 13-2. Great season guys and congratulations!!

Congratulations to the Mahoney track team for a great season and excellent finish at the festival meet last week.

Coaches want parents to be aware of some track and field meet opportunities this summer. The Maine Association of Track and Field will hold a regional Junior Olympic qualifying meet Saturday, June 18th in Augusta. There will also be several local developmental meets throughout the summer. If you would like more information please contact Coach Dean Orahood by email at orahoode@spsd.org.

The softball team finished their season with a 29-17 win over King. The team will meet at Red’s after school. Be sure to bring all uniforms.

 

 

Wednesday after school near the girls locker room there will be a Girls Lacrosse meeting to turn in your uniforms.
